The park’s 2,000 acres include springs, creeks, limestone canyons and cliffs, hilly woodland and grasslands. Elevation within the park ranges from 1,800 feet to 2,200 feet. The first 2100 acres of Lost Maples was purchased by the state in 1973 and 1974 and opened as a state natural area in 1979.
